WHY JOWLS FORM
Jowls develop when the skin's collagen and elastin scaffolding weakens, fat pads in the mid-face descend and the ligaments that anchor the lower face lose definition. Genetics, sun exposure, weight changes and the natural ageing process all contribute.
The result is softening along the jawline, loss of the sharp angle between cheek and jaw and a heavier appearance to the lower face — usually noticeable from the late 30s onwards.
